Insight: Card Redesign

Dog Fight 2.0 changed the card design to aid game play. Card colors are more prominent which helps in following Card Types. But there was also the matter of Card Forms, which determine how a card is to be played. The card layout was used to help in this regard.

One trick used in the new card templates was the placement of the illustration. Given that most cards are played by being set face down in a tier (i.e., Normal and Gear cards), these cards feature their illustrations at the top half of the template.

Star cards and Jump cards are not set face down in a tier. To quickly remind players of this distinction the illustrations of these cards are displayed in the bottom half of the template.

With a little familiarity, players can know at a glance significant details about cards without having to take time to read them in full.

These changes should help game play in remembering how to play cards and avoid one possible snag that could slow down game flow.
