Bright Edge Expansion Missions

The Bright Edge Expansion set offers two new missions, each including its own map.

Mission 001

Mission 001, Titan Evacuation operates on map 1003. Location: Titan.
Map 1003: Titan

In Mission 001, the objective is to rescue survivors from a damaged space station in orbit of the Saturn moon of Titan. NPC Assault Turret platforms are included in this mission. Your mission is to destroy a number of these platforms and remain in orbit of a particular space for a number of turns. These details can change depending on whether you play this mission solo or as a team.

Mission 002

Mission 002, Pulsar Escort operates on map 1004. Location: Alpha 4 Station.
Map 1004: Alpha 4 Station

In Mission 002, the objective is to escort the Pulsar NPC across an astromine debris field, to reach the Alpha 4 station at the opposite side. Numerous NPC drones will spawn throughout the mission, and their objective is to destroy the Pulsar. This mission can be played against the enemy NPCs alone or against a player who controls NPCs and a capital ship.

Environment Cards

Environment: Spawn Point
BEE also includes three new ENVIRONMENT type cards. ENVIRONMENT cards apply new rules that either alter the map or apply to all players. (learn more about ENVIRONMENT cards)

The card Spawn Point describes the purpose of spawn point tokens placed on the map. These are relevant for Missions 001 and 002 (or you can make your own missions).

On maps 1003 and 1004 you'll see small red "hot spots" on the map. These hot spots mark the location of the spawn point tokens. Of course, you can alter mission parameters and move the spawn point tokens to different locations on the map.

Environment: Blind Zone
Blind Zones are a new type of obstruction found on map 1004. Blind Zones show a purple overlay on top of the normal light blue obstruction spaces. These spaces are essentially obstructions with extra properties.

First, to have line of sight into a Blind Zone, your vessel must be within X spaces of that zone where X is designated on the map, printed in that space to target a vessel. This is no different from a normal obstruction but there is an additional limitation. Even when you do have line of sight, you must still roll a d4. If the result is X or lower (depending on the number printed on that space), your effect can target the vessel in that space; otherwise, your effect cannot target and is nullified.

If your effect traverses through more than one blind zone to target a vessel, only roll the d4 once, with the lowest numbered blind zone establishing the targeting threshold.

Environment: Null Zone
Null Zones are another new type of obstruction found on map 1003. Null Zones show a light blue dash the center of obstruction spaces. These spaces are essentially obstructions with extra properties.

First, targeted effects are nullified in or through Null Zones, except where a vessel targets itself. You might want to equip something to your ship, for example, or apply some other enhancement. But when exiting the Null Zone, other forces interfere with your navigation. You'll have to roll a d6 and number each side of the space you occupy 1-6. The dice roll determines which direction you move when leaving a Null Zone space.

Mission 002 has its own parameters and objectives but you can create your own missions. Got some mission ideas? Share them with the DFSE community over at Board Game Geek.
